I wish I needed a new mountain bike just so I could buy this one. The best deal out there in a 29er is the "Taff" @ $249.00. As usual Pacific Cycle's naming convention eludes me. I like the front hump at the top tube better than a dip in front of the seat tube, both of which are done to keep a lower stand-over height.
This has an 8 speed free hub (not freewheel), 1 1/8" headset, disk brakes front & rear, & Schwinn combo trigger shifter/brake lever & rear derailleur, replaceable rear derailleur hanger, WTB tires & a unique frame design. The free hub means that, if you're an upgrade junkie, ditching a freewheel hub/wheel doesn't need to be on the list. The trigger shifters are also way more reliable than the usual twist shifters on most Pacific offerings. And although it's a Tourney TX, the rear derailleur is also a step up to most bikes in this class. There are still plenty of 1 1/8" non-tapered upgrade forks out there too if that's on your needs list.

A bit warm. yes. Had to do another 2100 mile round trip on short notice. My back was/is in a real bad way & came home to a dead AC unit. Other than that its been just peachy!

Great for some things. Vans are such a bitch to work on. But what car isn't anymore...
