lurker: i should have just fixed the 4-cyl. the v8 ruined it, it was never right after that.

tomcat65: The Chevy Luv was seriously under-rated. Some of those trucks ran for 200,000 miles plus, and that was insanely dependable for any vehicle in the 70's and early 80's. In the late 80's when I was still seeing them on the road, I started to respect them.

lurker: oh and btw, i once put a 327 in a chevy (isuzu) LUV truck.it ran for a while.

lurker: that fiat will be a blast, until you flip it doing wheelies, and then you just get out, roll it over, and do it again!
Sept 25, 2020 11:43:48 GMT -7
desertbikes: You can shove a 427 hemi in a fiat too. That doesn't make it a good idea Yeah most of the 45-70 rounds are BP equivalents due to use in old Sharps high walls. 45-90 too.
Sept 25, 2020 7:19:04 GMT -7
lurker: maybe because it *was* a BP cartridge. i wonder if anyone has thought to chamber an AR in 45/70?

desertbikes: Weird how the creedmore has become the holy grail of game rounds the past few years. The Henry Big Boy caused a resurgence in the 45-70. It has a ballistic arc like a black powder ball round Fun to shoot tho.

lurker: was in dicks sporting goods today, saw no handgun ammo, but 2 boxes of .308, 5 boxes of 6.5 creedmore and 2 boxes of 45/70.

desertbikes: No problem getting 7.62x25 Tokarev, 7.62x54R, 6.5x55 Swedish & 45LC. My eclectic leftovers

lurker: makarov good, there should be some of the odd cartridges out there. sometimes i wish i'd bought a mak when they were everywhere and cheap. i've decided i'm just gonna try to wait out this ammo drought. happens every election cycle.
Sept 23, 2020 2:59:50 GMT -7
tomcat65: The Witch doctor has a German Makarov 9mmx18, One shop here has a few boxes, the others have none. Hopefully she doesn't need any more anyway
Sept 22, 2020 17:14:21 GMT -7
lurker: ammo for the US service weapons and AKs is very scarce. that's 9mm, 223 and 7.62x39. .38 and .40 are slightly better. dam hoarders, hoarding their dams.
Sept 20, 2020 16:53:19 GMT -7
desertbikes: Ammo - check out Natchez Supply & MidwayUSA. I haven't looked for ammo in a while. Pellets are another story. .357 / 9mm & .30 cal have gone up 30% or more since March. My favorite Czech & German brands in .177 - .25 were just gone for a few months.
Sept 20, 2020 9:06:38 GMT -7
lurker: weather nice, actually a bit chilly - suddenly gone from sweltering in shorts and a t-shirt last week, now i'm chillin in long sleeves, long pants, shoes and socks(!!!)
Sept 19, 2020 16:52:25 GMT -7
lurker: i reload most of my ammo. i've loaded up all of my 30-40 and .45acp and .308. need to replace my 30-06 dies, don't really consider 223 worth the effort but might load some if i get bored. now is a very bad time to buy ammo or components, esp. primers.
Sept 18, 2020 19:35:23 GMT -7
tomcat65: Been buying a box of ammo every once in a while. Limit 1 per customer on the common calibers. Winchester X .22Lr 36gr hp's, 235/box for $21.18. Are you guys finding anything? ANY 9mm is getting hard to find, .38sp and .40 are also hard to find around here.
Sept 18, 2020 18:27:03 GMT -7
desertbikes: About 12 years ago I was approached to represent a company that sold modular hog farms. Fully enclosed, computer controlled fans, louvers, flush systems, air filtration, etc. Not sure what happened to them. Seemed like forward thinking but not for me.
Sept 6, 2020 20:39:01 GMT -7
tomcat65: It's all chicken fans and valving around here. I guess the tech hasn't been developed yet, to make PL chickens viable for dairy.. The Amish to the South of us though, they have the dairy cows. An Amish man with a high tech dairy barn, defies my logic
Sept 4, 2020 7:59:54 GMT -7
desertbikes: They're just little industrial field computers that control pumps, fans, oscillation, VFD, valving, etc. It's voodoo to the farm folk too.
