Bought a NEXT Avalon in 2011 for my wife to ride around the property for fun & exercise. Several foot surgeries later a major change was needed to get her back in the saddle & pedal to regain strength & have some fun. I bought a trike kit with 24" wheels & this was the result. Would not recommend any trike kit unless you're very mechanically inclined. She ran this trike until 2015 when we bought a Schwinn Meridian trike, which will be another thread.

i'm late to this party, any remarks about this trike kit or trikes in general? my mom had a trike she rarely used. diabetes didn't help. i rode it a time or two, i didn't like it, didn't seem to like dirt roads.

A trike is very awkward to one who rides bikes regularly. In spite of having 2 rear wheels, only one is a drive wheel so it wants to go in a circle. A bike person needs to get over leaning into a turn too. BUT once you get used to it, it's fine. If it has a single speed hub some older folks find it hard to get started, especially on a dirt trail. That's all we have & my wife has gotten stronger for it. Since she has the Schwinn trike now I have enough spare parts from the Avalon build to fab up a fat trike for a yard truck.
Kits come & go. Two kinds are out there. The one pictured bolts directly to the axle dropouts & drive chain goes directly to the crank. The more common type is sold thru online lowrider & custom shops. Its a longer frame & uses a sprocket at the dropout as transfer point (no axle, just a dual sprocket) & a second gear drives the axle which is about 12"-18" behind the bike frame dropout. So, that was convoluted. I'll find a pic
A trike can be a useful tool for a bike rider or, fun freedom for those that can't ride a bike for some reason. Best used on pavement & left turns.

Extended chrome custom or lowrider single speed conversion This was used on the Avalon. Uses a 7 speed freewheel.
This is the frame I'd use if I lived in town. Too long for desert washes, ruts or berms (bottoms out)
