What you may not know about an American bicycle company. It's a 6 minute ad nut still informative.

roughly $2,400 today. bicycles were a plaything of wealthy city dwellers. as we all know, i'm mighty proud of violet, the 1975 peugeot u08 i got for nothing, and have probably spent $100 fixing her up. it seems they sold new for about $100, not all that much in '75, but now they sell in near-new condition for well north of $1,000.
violet is nowhere close to original, so even though i think she's better than new, collector value is near zero.

There's a picture around here of my grandpa's slightly used Ford Model T that he bought after coming home from France after WWI. On the back it says, 1916 Model T Mint. $315.00 Sure wish he would have kept it.Wonder what that & the 1877 bike are worth now.

if i had my grandpa's it would be worth more to me to keep it. i have my gf's armchair and my dad's rocker. wouldn't sell them for anything.
