I ended up buying this bike after returning a Cannondale 8 because it did not fit me correctly. Overall I would say the bike is comparable quality to the Cannondale, and comes with a few added features. The bike came with hydraulic disk brakes, a kickstand, a derailleur guard, and has 24 gear ratios. These bikes fluctuate in price depending on the season, and they are currently going for about $439.00 with free shipping on Bikesonline.com. I was tempted to go with a Motobecane for about $299.00, but from the research I was able to do the Polygon bikes were rated much better. Of course, this bike is a bit more expensive than some of the department store offerings but I think the quality helps to justify the added cost. The bike arrived well packed and undamaged about a week and half after I ordered it. I was able to assemble it in about half hour. The assembly was very minor and involved attaching the handlebars, seat, front wheels, and pedals. Everything worked well right after assembly. The gears shifted very well, but may require some very minor adjustments but that is about the only issue I had with the bike. Compared to the Cannondale the front forks on the Polygon added an extra inch of travel and the hydraulic disk breaks worked flawlessly and required a feather touch. I plan on riding the bike mostly on the street, but I will definitely try it on some light trails as soon as I have chance. One of the best parts of the bikesonline website was the fact that they had a program that took my measurements and gave me a perfect fit.

Hello firemist! Looks like a good deal there. I wasn't familiar with Polygon & bikesonline. A different layout than bikesdirect.com. They have some nice features at that price point, now @ $439.00. Here's the spes lurker. Another bonus - they're made in Indonesia, not china

Thanks guys! The color was definitely a bonus, because when I went out shopping locally I saw more than a few offerings in gray and black; which really didn't cut it for me. I was considering going with bikesdirect.com and buying a Motobecane HT 400 because I used to have a Motobecane 10 speed back in high school. Needless to say, the new Motobecanes are really just using the name and nothing like the original company that produced its bikes and mopeds in France. By the way, below is a link to the Polygon's official website. They make some fairly high end models as well in addition to the entry level and lower models. Link : Polygon BikesWhen I get a chance I will have to post a picture of my 20+ year old Marlboro Fuji folding bike; which was long overdue for replacement.

Have you discovered and foible with the bike yet, FM?
Marlboro Fuji bike. So one might smoke while they ride. Sounds like a French thing to do I remember the coupon collectors when I was a kid & cigarette company catalogs full of outdoorsy stuff for hundreds or thousands of coupons - one per pack of cigs. Even then the irony was thick. Surprised they didn't invent the one-lung Olympics

I guess I must of ridden the bike about 10 to 15 miles total so far, and I really don't have any complaints. The hydraulic break lines are a bit long, but I was told by a cousin who works in a bike shop that this is not too uncommon. Right now, it is going to be garage bound for a little while because we have about 10" snow on the ground that doesn't look like its going anywhere until the end of March. I will let you know after I had a couple months to ride it but so far no complaints at all.

That's the thing about model builders, FM. Snow doesn't bother you guys as long as you have supplies. Just leave a window vented so you don't get too high
