I'm gonna do some checking. See if anything else is out there - other than Amazon. Still cheaper to convert an old bike but not by much. Plus, one doesn't have to worry about wiring & ohm's law & batteries, if one isn't too hip on the subject.

A quick check on ebay & found a 500W, 36 volt, 26" front hub drive wheel kit, less battery, is around $160 - $180. It includes a full conversion kit with brake levers & motor controller.
A 10 amp hr 36volt battery WITH charger is about $200. The Hyper battery is rated at 7.5 Ahr
Both are shipped from US addresses. I'm sure you could save 10% or more buying directly from China if you're willing to wait longer for delivery & have little recourse if there are problems.
So, bottom line, you can get a complete bike, with slightly less range, for an extra $30, vs buying kits & assembly.

i'd be willing to pay $30 for someone to assemble it so that everything works. i gather the battery is in the lower tube. when the battery finally dies, then what, throw away the bicycle bits?

The pack is attached to the downtube. Depending on how it's built, you might be able to replace the bad cell in the pack. If not, you'd buy the $200 battery with charger, or whatever 36v option is available at the time. They're lithium batteries so they'll have a good lifespan, IF they stand up to bumpy bike rides.

BTW - this is the same Hyper ebike I first posted in another thread back in June 2019. The only difference I can see is that it's now $100 cheaper. Yeah, I'll kick myself if they knock off yet another $100 for Negro Viernes. That's generally how my luck runs.

Maybe I could have worded that better. A complete ebike is only $30 more than buying the kits. The Hyper ebike will have aprox 25% less range than a kit bike, in theory anyway. 7.5 amp hr for the Hyper battery vs 10 amp hr for the kit battery I looked at. |

Wrote this bike up on the other site a while back. The most foreboding comments I found, "it's great for small riders", and "it doesn't like hills".. On the other hand, one reviewer from a large city said it was very good on his commute, but half of his commute is on rails, the other half on flat land.
I've been interested in an e-bike conversion. At the same time, I don't want to feel like I've admitted that I might need it just yet.
The Hyper E-ride is a nice looking bike, for 1/4 the price of the e-bike I'd be most interested in. Interested, but definitely can't get excited about a $1600 to $2000 Trek e-bike.

It included fixing a flat, chain falling off, left pedal falling off, etc. A large percentage of those folks will buy this bike too. It's also at the low end of the amp hour & torque curves, hence the price tag. There will always be those that buy a Ford Escort then complain it doesn't handle like a Porsche. |

Amazon reviews are some of the Worst! "Tire won't hold air, so I returned it. They expected ME to pay shipping!! REEEEEeeeee!!!"
I'll bet the Hyper is a fun ride. It's one of the best looking budget e-bikes around!

Overpriced electric bike. "overpriced" is subjective, I know. To haul a 200lb person home on a 45 lb semi-mountain ebike after a hard ride, your gonna need at least a 48 volt system & 12-15 Ahr battery. That takes a few bucks. (Forget the watts ratings. Like LED light ratings, its misdirection for most people.) |

Was estimated to be delivered today but haven't even received an email confirming shipment. Will do some checking. On-Track is the absolute worst shipping service in the US & Walmart uses them frequently.

The guys over at the other place kept trying, they eventually got the Hyper Hydroforms and Schwinn Axums. Maybe this one will reappear as well. Hang in there. It might show up again. |

A bit warm. yes. Had to do another 2100 mile round trip on short notice. My back was/is in a real bad way & came home to a dead AC unit. Other than that its been just peachy!
