I chose it because it could handle my 350lbs that I weighted at the time. as I started losing weight, I got the hard tail. haven't really rode the hyper yet just to check the shifting around town. I think it is going to be my favorite if it holds up. I'm just getting into riding. Getting ready to turn 50 and hadn't been on a bike since I was 14.

very cool! there's a thread here in road bikes where i talk way too much about myself. i ride a kent denali and a 40 yr old peugeot. i'd guess you're a hundred or so miles north of me. the weather today looks good for a ride, i'm gonna try and get some!

Not quit that heavy but was working my way there. To make it worse, I smoked. Found modifying bikes to be a great experience. Traditional diets & exercise have never been in my blood but bicycles were part of my life until my life until around early 20s. Seemed a good alternative to a gym or dying. 10 years & too many bikes later, I'm off all blood pressure, heart & other meds. Eating smart isn't a diet & exercise inst a chore if you're engaged & entertained (on a bike). Stick with it & you'll feel so much better & never regret it.

well i was a little suspicious of the bright green gears and red pedals, but i really wouldn't know.
a guy like me, i can see the mongoose looks to have a rigid frame and fork(avoiding desert rant re fork vs forks), the gravity has sprung front, and the hyper is sprung front and rear. what else am i looking at here? fenders. what else?

He's changed at least 12 items on the Hyper but I'm not saying what Part of the fun of a forum is the explaining the build and there's a story behind that one. I'm curious how he went about it. Should be interesting.

Likin the hyper! Hows the RS spring work for you. thought it might bottom out at 250# or there abouts I kept the rear shock as it has a very strong spring. Very little sag @ over 300#. Once I lose some more weight, I swap it out for something else.
