This has bothered me for a long time & I hear & read it frequently. - Your bike doesn't have "forks". It has a (singular) fork. Unless your bike has 2 steerable wheels, it only has one fork. You don't change the "forks" on your bike unless you're changing the fork on more than one bike. That's where the fork analogy ends because it doesn't have tines. It should, right? But no. It has stanchions. Basically, top to bottom you have a steering tube, crown, stanchions, and at the bottom of the stanchions, the dropouts, or call 'em wayward teens if you like. There are variations & additional components depending on what type you have, but that's the crux of almost any traditional bike fork. Again, a bike only has one. More on types of forks later.

After so many years of saying ignorant things myself, it's my duty to help & educate others. In my previous businesses, precise language was critical. On forums where all one has is written language, imprecise instructions can waste time or cause problems (death can be a problem) for others. There's a difference between colloquial language & ignorance. "forks" is just ignorant. As is, "hot water heater"....

If the water was hot, you wouldn't need to heat it. Not redundant, just dundant.
