so tonight i finished the wings, attached the body to the pedestal and started on the tail. when that's done i'll attach the wings to the body and the tail to the body, and all done! it sounds so easy. and tonight i had another "doesn't fit" moment, but then i noticed the part fit just fine on the other side. so that's probably what i did earlier too, but it seems to work so i'm not gonna undo everything and fix it.shouldn't be long now, another day or so.
that's fine. the pistol is basically a sentimental thing, a connection to a grandmother i never knew. yes, i'll shoot it, and clean it and put it away. the real solution is to fix the other one... if i can get parts. the peacock is just a pretty little thing, a (late) christmas gift. with the added merit that in 20 years i'll be able to point and say "i made that". i'm hoping to get back to it tonight after things get slow.
typical of most things in my life lately, i put the back and tail on the body. 6 pins and 6slots. in so doing, one wing fell off. and to get everything to fit right, i have to partially undo the other wing. it's like a square dance, 6 steps forward, 4 steps back, swing your partner, do-see-do! i'll get back to it, we have a week of rain coming, kinda depressing, but not much else to do.

At least you don't have to un-glue the pieces to move them. I don't know how much time I've spent cleaning up miss glued stuff but it been a bunch. Measure twice, cut once is fine. But test fit 10 times, then glue once, is just as important.

4 words - acid core silver solder. One of my kid hobbies was copper wire & tin "models" from scratch. We didn't have micro butane torches back the but that might be an option. If flame is not an option, you can use the solder with a standard soldering gun. Just make sure the material is well heated first. The solder should begin to melt when touching the material only. Try to get it in the joint as much as possible. Go from under the work if possible. Or just superglue the crap out of it Liquid steel & quick set epoxy might work fine too since it's relatively light.
lurker: ouch not good. don't know that i'd know where to start, maybe turn off the water to the tank and get a mop?
