let me try to clarify. fpe=foot/pounds energy? fps=feet per second? i've already had parts of this discussion on my gun forum. yes, whole states (NJ) already ban pretty much anything capable of launching a projectile. as you note, many "air"* guns perform as well as some firearms, just ask lewis and clark. my personal answer? no, don't want. * compressed gas
What exactly is your objection, lurker? Is there a rate of fire which would be acceptable?
given that we've already shown that "air" guns can be just as effective/dangerous as firearms, i think that a full-auto air rifle would basically just be a machine gun, at the least a way to get around the NFA. so maybe we should have tax stamps and registration for air rifles too. if i had more faith in human nature (which i do not) maybe i'd say "no problem". but i don't.
personally i consider the 1934 NFA infringement, but we're not going to undo the NFA. which is why i tend to say "no further gun control". we've already given ground and i don't see the other side offering us anything in the way of a "reasonable compromise". to tell the truth, i don't find the NFA problematic. if i find myself needing to do what the 2nd is IMO for, them my little semiauto rifles and pistols will be fine until i can use them to get "better" weapons. when i consider most of the plausible tactical scenarios i can foresee, night vision would be a far better investment than suppressors or full-auto. In My Opinion.

Thanks for the clarification, luker. The guys at Airgun Nation forum largely agree with you. Actually I started out agreeing with them until I realized it was simply an emotional response. It's hard to sort out sometimes when laws are knee-jerk emotional responses as well. .357/9mm repeating PCP air rifles have been generally available for 10 years or more. But lawmakers get lost in caliber & what a stock looks like. They talk about large caliber weapons forgetting that AR & modern AK platforms are .22 caliber. But those have pistol grip & black stocks so they must be bad. Yet a .22 long rifle will kill just as dead as a .223 Remington. So will a .17 HMR as well as a .177 air gun pellet (under the right circumstances.
It time to lift the veil & get this all out in the open. Now, before the next anti-gun administration and/or congress gets into office. PCP tech has advanced as much in 5 years as as smokeless powder weapons did in 50. People need to quit thinking in terms of caliber & start thinking in terms of mass & velocity.
I have to see what the dogs are barking at. More later

desertbikes: I've got nothing against religion. How some sects of the major 3 faiths conduct themselves is another story. The bottom line tho, religion is faith, & you can't reason with faith. If God were proven, faith wouldn't be required. Poof! No more religion

lurker: there's a lot of death going around lately. yes, some of it is we're getting older, and the people we know are getting older too. lost two acquaintances myself in the last week or so. it seems especially unfair when it takes children.
