I've had the more powerful of the two for a week now. 1920x1080 FHD, AMD Ryzen 5 with Radeon Vega 8 Graphics, THX Spatial Audio, Tuned by THX display, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD, HDMI, Front 720p HD IR Camera. Putting it though the paces & most impressed with the Vega 8 graphics. Way better thyan standard integrated UHD600 series on Intel based boards. Was on sale for $309 but see thats over now. Contrary to some reviews, the case/skin is NOT aluminum or any other kind of metal. More detail later but, the Motiles are very much like what you'd expect if RCA put mid-grade AMDs in thier plastic tablets & laptops. Not a bad thing at all, just don't expect a Surface or ipad at these price points.

No dvd drive. A usb dvd drive is $20 at wally's. 3 usb 3, USB C, HDMI & LAN ports It plays Fallout 3 on ultra res. Yeah the game is 10 years old but even game machines 5 years ago couldn't play it that fast. The ryzen 5 is 4 cores with 8 threads, unlike the Intel i3 in that price range. And a Ryzen 3 is so far past a Celeron or Pentium Gold, there's no point in comparing especially with the Vega 3 graphics. Still better than any intel embedded vid chip.

Update - I did get the Ryzen 3 version as well when it was $209. Both models are significantly higher now. There have been no major issues with either unit. I will say the radio in the Ryzen 3 model leaves something to be desired. Whether it's an assembly problem or a different radio than what's in the Ryzen 5, I don't know, but it's range & signal strength is not as good as the Ryzen 5 model.
I play Fallout 3 on the Ryzen 5 unit a couple times per week with no issues. It is an issue to get it to run on Win 10 but if you download a couple patches it will play, and on the highest graphics settings as well. These aren't great deals at the current prices, but they still good computers.
My complaint is the darn backlit keys. In a well lit room, the silver keys with the back-lite on are nearly impossible to read. Turn the backlite off & it is somewhat better. Not a deal breaker but is annoying.
this reminds me of how long it's been since i've been anywhere out beyond the grocery store across the street. ok, not exactly true, we did go for a drive to the uwharrie natl forest this week, actually got out and walked around a bit. flintlock valley range where i shoot is in there. www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/nfsnc/recarea/?recid=48934
my little RCA is not that capable but it will run morrowind. i should see if it runs "Oblivion". i've added a 3-port USB expander and a USB DVD drive, which is good enough. nowadays all i do with computers is look at my 4 or five regular websites (like this one), sometimes i'll shop online for gun stuff, and play games. i need to hunt up a headset with microphone so i can use it for teleconferencing.
i'll start at the dollar store, also right across the street. yes, i live between my doctor's office and a bojangles and there's a shopping center right across the main drag. ethnic hair, tobacco/vape shop, grocery, laundromat, chinese carryout, all very convenient. but it's quiet, pretty much dead quiet after 9pm. like living in a metaphor: death by grease to one side, health on the other, life straight ahead, just across the road.

lurker: i am an atheist. always been one. whole notion is silly. i won't know for sure until i die, and only if i'm wrong, because if i'm right i won't be knowing or doing much of anything (i'd say decomposing, but the plan is cremation) we'll see. or we won't.

desertbikes: And for the record, Richard Dawkins is an arrogant prick too. He's part of the in-your-face atheist crowd whose religion IS literally, Atheism. Again, it take a huge amount of faith to presume you have all the answers.

desertbikes: I've got nothing against religion. How some sects of the major 3 faiths conduct themselves is another story. The bottom line tho, religion is faith, & you can't reason with faith. If God were proven, faith wouldn't be required. Poof! No more religion

desertbikes: Thanks for the words guys. I don't say much to the ones left behind. Everything sounds like platitudes. A few days after my dad died, I wanted to throttle the next person that said, "I'm sorry for your loss" or, "they're in a better place now".

desertbikes: The cousin died. At least she's not in pain anymore. A hospice always says how the person died peacefully. What else would one expect when the patient is pumped full of adivan & morphine.

lurker: there's a lot of death going around lately. yes, some of it is we're getting older, and the people we know are getting older too. lost two acquaintances myself in the last week or so. it seems especially unfair when it takes children.
