when i do my job as a recently minted "old guy", which is to dispense dubious wisdom, i've been trying (very trying) to use my life as a cautionary tale. what is a cautionary tale, you ask? a lengthy series of "don't do this, don't do that", "see what happens if you...". plainly, i have failed. as usual.
and anyway, "finish"? is that even possible?

My grandpa once said, "Don't ever stick your finger in the lamp socket". Why he chose a lamp, instead of wall socket, I'll never know. He was imparting his brand of dubious wisdom. Now, I'm pretty damn sure had he never made that statement, it simply wouldn't have occurred to me to try this forbidden experiment. It stuck with me. You can guess the inevitable outcome. I think that's why, now that I'm old & "wise", I find it amusing to watch young people do stupid things, particularly if it leads to non-lethal bodily harm. Jerry Pournelle called it, "evolution in action". Besides, it's safer to stay out of it, whatever it may be.
Finished? When it's melted down for scrap I suppose.

I didn't care much for David Letterman but liked the top 10 list segments.

I liked the off-the-wall aspect of the show in the 80s & 90s. More like the days of Steve Allen, probably the only real talent to ever hold the post Never made a point to tune in. Usually just late night channel flipping, which was quick when there were only 3 networks & a few independents on local VHF & UHF. Never was a big dish or cable fan.

Since you asked, shit happens. Happened. Since I already have a functional fat bike, the project was dropped to a very low priority.
