We'll try to post only bikes we’ve personally given the once-over in a store or elsewhere. We ask that members do the same. Ours may usually be from Walmart or Target but will always be brick & mortar stores. If you shop on-line at Walmart.com, be sure to select “Walmart” as the sole retailer. It’s the only way to be be sure you’ll have fewer hassles & Walmart backing should you have problems with a purchase. Never use 3rd party retailers listed on the site.

Since my Dolomite will be the fast desert ride, I wanted to build a easy riding fat cruiser to ride with the wife & dogs. The wheels off the Hitch (same as Malus) are now on the Dodomite & the rebuilt Dolo wheels, w/ 34T mega freewheel, are now on the Hitch. So is the Schwinn seat from the Genesis 29er, rack, seat post & bars from the Beast & stem mount friction shifters from a thrift store. Also has a Vee8 tire up front & Mission on the back. Will also get the original alloy brake levers from the Deception. Thought some folks might want to see the abomination under construction.

The grip shifter is a SRAM MRX that came stock on the first issue Mongoose Deception. It's an improvement over the stock no-name, which slip-shifted easily on bumps. I'm going to see if I can get used to a stem shifter but am now thinking of saving those for another project. I'm only using the rear disk brake & it's plenty for desert cruising & monsoon mud running. The red stem is a Black Ops BMX & the only new part except for cables - just some Shimano SS & noname teflon lined housing. Still have to sort out a few things. I have a "bitch" bar off a Harley Sporster & was thinking of attaching it to the seat stays & getting a banana seat. It's not out of the question
You havent posted anything about this bike for a while. Do u still have or ride it.
Yup. Ride it every day. It's my yard (40 acres or so) & dog bike. I'll post some pics next week so folks can see what will eventually happen to anodized parts & black nylon seats & under-seat tool bags. 1 summer here, unprotected, is a lifetime for most bikes normally kept out of the weather when not in use. The Dolomite will get it's rebuild done in Sept & the Hitch will be out of action for a while. Some rebuilding & minor changes/upgrades.

Lots of water & sand rides over summer. Wheel bearings are about gone. Single disk brake on rear has been adequate for XC & monsoon rides. Bike needs a full tear down. Since its cooled off I'll finish the Dolomite upgrades then start the Hitch rebuild.

desertbikes: "sick" is good in today's lingo. Like "bad" was back in our century. Maybe "old" will be like that someday.

lurker: vet patched him together pretty good. he'll be ok. actually i just called a GTA video's viewers "sick". nothing but gratuitous violence. i guess i'm officially old.

desertbikes: That's a shame. Funny how we can watch videos of dozens of humans getting wasted in grotesque ways but when they pan in on that cute little puppy, we all think, "Not the puppy!!" Is he/she gonna be OK?

desertbikes: Sorry, Tom. Didn't smoke? Bet you were a chewer tho. It's a KY state law that we all must be missing a front tooth by 40 & use at least one type of tobacco product.
