from the late 70s, i think. this is what the commies used to teach their kids to shoot. adequate out to 20 yds. air guns are illegal to shoot here in the city, though i've shot this one in the privacy of my garage. i understand, in the wrong hands, this could harm a kid or pet or break a window. shot it in the back yard when i lived in the country. i had a nicer, heftier chinese rifle, vaguely reminiscent of an m-14, but gave it to a neighborhood kid who admired it.
like many things from behind the iron curtain in that era, it's something of a triumph of function over form. it's homely, but it works. i haven't shot it for a year or so, probably illegal to shoot here in city limits. it sits up in the rafters in the tool shed, nice and dry. if you lived here, or i there, i'd entertain offers. as it is, probably not worth the cost of shipping.
i see that whatacountry.com sells them, $35 for bakelite, $42 for wood.
desertbikes: Clear today. In fact it's steaks & air rifle day, after some seasonal generator maintenance.

desertbikes: greasewood - what creosotes are called in the southwest. Probably due to shiny or greasy look of the leaves, particularly during monsoon season.

desertbikes: I use a bucket of sand & kevlar reinforced welding gloves to test handguns. Vertically, usually in a piece of 10" galvanized stove pipe to direct the sound up. And always look away for the first shot, just in case.

desertbikes: Happy New Year fellow forum fiddlers. Looks like me & the lurkster have absolutely nothing better to do on new years eve than type & read. It does beat driving in the drunken madness & dodging stray bullets. Well, we do have gun fire & mexican fireworks (:
